Natural Gas Leak Reported On Geneva’s West Side
Area residents are encouraged to avoid the area.

Nicor officials are on the scene of a natural gas leak in Geneva Thursday evening. City officials said construction crews accidentally struck a line Thursday afternoon on Center Street near Highbury Lane on Geneva's west side. Geneva police and fire departments responded to the incident along with Nicor, according to an alert sent by the city just before 4 p.m.
While the area has been blocked off, there is no immediate danger to the public, city officials said. City officials have not been evacuated from their homes.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area if possible.

Safety personnel and Nicor officials expect to be on the scene for up to several hours until the line is repaired, according to a news release.
