Natural Gas Main To Be Replaced Along Route 31 In Geneva
The replacement project is expected to take about to weeks to complete, weather permitting.
GENEVA, IL — More work is scheduled along Route 31 beginning in April, city officials said.
Nicor will replace a natural gas main south of the Union Pacific-West railroad underpass. Miller Pipeline, Nicor's contractor, will work within the state highway's right-of-way from the Third Street intersection to near the underpass, according to a news release.
The replacement project is expected to take about to weeks to complete, weather permitting. Significant closures are not anticipated, but flaggers will be present to manage any temporary lane reductions, if necessary.

The property owners impacted by the project have received letters informing them of the work, officials said.
Nicor is also replacing a natural gas main along Second and Third streets in downtown Geneva. The project, which began last May, is substantially completed.

The gas company is in the process of scheduling its landscaping and paving contractors to restore several project areas throughout the downtown area. The city has not received a timetable for the restoration work, officials said.
