Oktoberfest At Penrose Brewing: 'A Day Filled With Bavarian Merriment'

The Geneva brewery announced the date of its highly anticipated Oktoberfest, featuring craft beer, German fare and live music.

GENEVA, IL — Penrose Brewing will host its highly anticipated Oktoberfest Sept. 16, officials announced Wednesday.

Event-goers can anticipate a "day filled with traditional Bavarian merriment." That includes live music, German fare by Nobel House and a variety of activities, including a bags competition and the Penrose Stein Hoisting Tournament.

The event might be one geared toward adults, but children can also participate by letting their "creativity run wild" with face painting.

The beer-centric event will take place from 2-10 p.m. at the brewery, 509 Stevens St.

"We're excited to host our annual Oktoberfest celebration and share the joy of the Oktoberfest season with our community," Tom Korder, co-founder and head brewer at Penrose Brewing, said in a statement. "It's a day filled with music, laughter, delicious food, and, of course, our Oktofest beer on draft, along with your favorite Penrose beers and Seltz-Ups."

Prices to enter vary. General admission will cost $10, $20 if it includes a souvenir glass stein and $40 if it includes a ceramic stein. Kids enter for free.
