Woman, 21, Charged With DUI After Crashing Into Home, Through Garage in Batavia
No one inside the home was injured.

A 21-year-old Batavia woman who was injured when she crashed her vehicle through a detached garage in Batavia early Tuesday morning has been charged with DUI, police told the Kane County Chronicle.
Mary Gosselin, 21, of the 1000 of block Hodge Lane in Batavia, has also been cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and disobeying a stop sign, according to the article.
The crash occurred at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Pine Street when Gosselin’s vehicle left the roadway, struck the house and then hit two unoccupied vehicles parked in the driveway, according to a Batavia Fire Department press release and media reports. The vehicle pushed one of the parked vehicles into the detached garage through a closed overhead door and came to rest on its roof, partially on top of another vehicle, according to the news release.

Rescue crews made contact with the woman who was conscious but trapped in the vehicle. The woman was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Delnor Community Hospital.
All five occupants inside the home at the time of the crash were not injured. The house and garage were deemed structurally safe by the city’s building inspector, fire officials said.
