Report Of Armed Man In Geneva Home Not True: Police

Police were called to the 200 block of Wakefield Lane Tuesday morning for a potentially armed person inside a home.

GENEVA, IL – A 911 call regarding a potentially armed person inside a home that drew several police officers to Wakefield Lane Tuesday morning was later deemed to be unfounded, police said Wednesday. Authorities received the report just before noon and rushed to the 200 block of Wakefield Lane. A woman caller told police she was able to leave the home "on her own accord" and drove her car down the block before calling 911, according to a news release from the Geneva Police Department.

Multiple Geneva Police Department units responded to the home and officers secured the area. They also made sure neighboring residents remained safely inside their homes.

A man inside the Wakefield Lane home willingly left the home to speak to officers. Upon further investigation, the original complaint was determined to be unfounded, police said.
