Results from North Aurora Roadside Safety Check

A roadside safety check was held over the weekend in North Aurora.

The Illinois State Police and North Aurora Police Department held a roadside safety check during the late evening hours of Oct. 14 and early morning hours of Oct. 15.

The detail was conducted on Illinois Route 31 south of Interstate 88 in North
Aurora by Illinois State Police Department and North Aurora Police Department officers, according to a news release.

During the roadside safety check, officers handed out several tickets and made various arrests. Here is a look at the results from that roadside safety check:

  • Registration offenses: 2
  • Driver’s license offenses: 13
  • Occupant restraint offenses 5
  • Driving under the influence arrests: 0
  • Other alcohol/drug arrests: 8
  • Total citations/arrests: 54
  • Total written warnings: 1
Alcohol is involved in nearly 40 percent of fatal crashes in Illinois, according to the news release. RSCs are designed to remove alcohol and drug-impaired drivers, however, when other violations are observed such as driving with a suspended or revoked license, operating a vehicle without a valid registration or insurance, or safety belt violations, enforcement action may be taken.
