The family of the 2016 Geneva High grad, who was killed in the October 2017 crash, has been awarded $103,000.

GENRVA, IL — A lawsuit filed by the family of a teen killed in a fiery crash against the driver in the collision has been settled for $103,000, the Daily Herald reports. Meanwhile, the criminal case for Raphael R. Peruzza, of the 2000 block of Eldorado Drive in Geneva, is ongoing and the 20-year-old is expected back in court on Aug. 15. He faces aggravated DUI and reckless homicide charges in connection with the October 2017 crash that killed his friend, Nicholas D. Hanson.
In the lawsuit, relatives of Hanson sued Peruzza and David Beaune, the owner of the 2000 Jeep Cherokee, claim Peruzza was negligent, speeding and didn’t slow down while driving south on Burr Road near Dean Street when the car went off the road and hit a tree, according to the Daily Herald.
