Teacher’s Profanity-Laced TikTok: Geneva Schools Respond
A petition was also started calling for the Geneva High School teacher's removal following the video posted calling out non-mask wearers.

GENEVA, IL — School district officials said they don't condone a profanity-laced TikTok video apparently posted by a Geneva High School teacher criticizing an elderly woman over the way she wore a mask. In the now-deleted video, the teacher angrily talks about her experience at her daughter's choir concert.
In response, administrators at Geneva School District 304 said Wednesday that they are looking into the incident.
"The District does not condone or support behavior or language that does not reflect the values we strive to instill in our students," the statement reads.

In a since-deleted TikTok video — on an account that also appears to have been deleted — the woman said she was "fired up" about what happened at the choir concert where her two daughters were performing. She also handled ticket sales at the door that night.
She said an elderly couple, who were the grandparents of one of her former students, walked in not wearing masks despite the indoor mask mandate. They turned out to be sitting near each other during the concert.

"I see that good old grandma is wearing the mask literally hanging off her ear," she said. "Not even under her chin. Hanging off her ear."
Continuing her story in the TikTok, she said she told an employee, after which an announcement was made asking guests to wear their face coverings properly in order for indoor choir concerts to continue.
"So old biddy grandma huffs and puffs and she's pissed off," she said. "Fine, whatever. Now I've got my elderly parents with me as well as my elderly aunt and uncle, sitting in front of them, not wearing her mask properly. F--- around and find out, I will throw down with you."
The video also refers to the grandparents' grandson — who was a former student — as conservative, calling him a profanity.
The district said that "statements made by individual employees do not represent the views or values of the Geneva School District."
A petition started circulating Monday calling for the teacher's removal because the video "shows clearly that it is not acceptable to have educators indoctrinating their students with personal opinions."
Gubernatorial candidate Gary Rabine, who is running in the Republican primary, also issued a news release calling for District 304 School Board members to fire the teacher for "threaten[ing] violence against a grandmother she said was not wearing her mask properly," according to reports from Kane County Reporter.
Administrators at District 304 said actions are confidential until public action is required by law, since this is a personnel matter.
School officials did not respond to Patch's request for comment at the time of publication.
