Two Seriously Injured in Crash During Motorcycle Charity Ride in Kane County

A Warrenville man is in critical condition following the crash Sunday.

A Warrenville man is in critical condition following a crash during a charity motorcycle ride in Kane County Sunday afternoon, the Kane County Chronicle reports.

Curtis Dalton, 46, was participating in the DuKane ABATE charity motorcycle ride when he swerved to avoid hitting a helmet that fell of another motorcycle near the intersection of Main Street and Green Road in unincorporated Blackberry Township, according to a Kane County Sheriff’s Office press release.

The driver of the 2000 Yamaha motorcycle and a passenger, Sara Nickence, 43, of Aurora, were both seriously injured. Dalton was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Nickence was taken to Delnor Hospital.

Main Street was closed for about two hours following the crash. No tickets have been issued and police have not received confirmation on whether the riders were wearing helmets.

The riders were participating in the DuKane ABATE 29th Annual Toy and Food Run that started in Elburn and en route to the Batavia VFW.
