Water Will Shut Off At Several Geneva Houses During Water Main Work

The 13 affected houses will also be issued a boil order due to the water main being shut down.

GENEVA, IL — Water service will be shut off for several Geneva houses Thursday as crews install a new water main on Route 25.

The Geneva Public Works Department is working to install a new water main on the state highway between State and Jefferson streets. A scheduled water shutdown is planned between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday as crews abandon the old water main and connect to the new infrastructure, officials said.

The following properties will be affected:

  • 12, 102, 113, 114, 125 and 133 on East State Street
  • 201, 208, 209, 220, 221, 224 and 227 on North Bennett Street

The 13 properties will also be issued a boil order as a result of the water main being shut down. City officials said other residences and businesses near the construction zone will not be impacted by the order.

Construction on the infrastructure project began in October and is expected to be completed in early January.
