GENEVA, IL — Williamsburg Avenue in Geneva is in the process of being resurfaced, and the next stage of the project will impact traffic near the namesake elementary school, officials said.

Pavement milling is scheduled to begin from the west entrance of Williamsburg Avenue School to Randall Road Sept. 13. The construction will intermittently reduce the roadway to one lane until at least Sept. 22, according to a news release.

Officials said they notified Geneva Community Unit School District 304 of the project and placed a message board on Williamsburg Avenue to alert drivers of the upcoming work. Parents who don't live in the immediate vicinity are asked to access the school from the east, near State Street and Williamsburg Avenue.

Once this stretch of the roadway is completed, construction will shift from Williamsburg Avenue School east to State Street. The project is part of Geneva's 2023 street improvement program, which began in August and is expected to be completed in October.

All scheduled are weather-dependent and could change, city officials said.
