Woman Trapped In Machine at Geneva Plant Flown to Hospital
The woman became trapped in the conveyor belt assembly machine at Power Packaging early Friday morning, according to fire officials.
GENEVA, IL — A woman who became trapped in a conveyor belt assembly machine at a Geneva plant on Friday morning has been taken by helicopter to an area hospital, authorities said Friday. The Geneva Fire Department responded to a call of an employee trapped in the machine at 6:28 a.m. Power Packaging, 2089 Pillsbury Drive, according to a news release.
Maintenance employees at the plant were able to disassemble the machine and get the woman out before emergency personnel arrived, fire officials said. The woman was treated at the scene by the Geneva Fire Department and then transferred to a medical helicopter before being taken to a Level 1 trauma center for further treatment.
No additional information was immediately available on the patient’s condition or extent of her injuries, authorities said Friday morning.
