• Streets to close in Springfield for 'Big Boy' locomotive stop (sj-r.com) — A historic Union Pacific “Big Boy” steam locomotive will roll from Springfield to Girard this Saturday, drawing railfans across central Illinois. Streets near Springfield’s Amtrak Depot will briefly close for the 10:45 a.m. arrival before the train departs at 11:15 a.m. for its next stop in Girard, giving locals a rare chance to see the massive engine up close.
