29th Annual Chicago Select Golf Invitational Raises the Bar for Cancer

Chicago, IL – September 9, 2024 – The 29th Annual Chicago Select Golf Outing took place at the prestigious Medinah Country Club, marking another milestone in the American Cancer Society’s tireless mission to combat cancer. The event, a hallmark of philanthropic excellence, successfully united community leaders and philanthropists in a day of golf and goodwill, raising over $1.8M to advance cancer research.

As one of the premier charity golf outings in the country, Chicago Select has long been a beacon of hope in the fight against cancer. This year’s gathering was no exception, drawing a record number of participants eager to support the cause. The event’s success was significantly bolstered by the dedicated efforts of the Chicago Select Executive Committee.

As a past Executive Chair for Chicago Select and current Club President of Medinah, Vaughn Moore emphasized the profound impact of Chicago Select Golf Invitational.

“This event gives me a chance to reach out to my amazing friends and professional contacts with a powerful touchpoint that is almost universally embraced. I ask people in my network to give their time, talent and/or treasure, and thankfully, these individuals are often in the unique position to contribute all three," said Moore. "Through the Chicago Select committee, we have welcomed many significant contributors over the years – dedicated people who want to pool resources and fight this disease together. It's enhanced me professionally, but more importantly, it's made me a better person.”

Through the Executive Committee’s leadership, Chicago Select has experienced unprecedented growth and success. The event’s evolution was lauded by Jim Hart, 2023-2024 Executive Committee Chair.

“The event really took a step up under Vaughn Moore’s chairmanship and set a new bar for fundraising. The core spirit of the event to be the best charity golf outing is ever-present," said Hart. "Each year we keep getting more people wanting to play and sell out 3 golf courses! The committee continues to expand and attract people that are actively involved and committed to the cause. It is an exceptional group of leaders and an honor to work alongside them.”

The 29th Annual Chicago Select Golf Invitational not only surpassed its fundraising goals but also highlighted the collaborative spirit driving the fight against cancer. The funds raised will significantly contribute to the American Cancer Society’s ongoing research efforts, bringing the organization closer to breakthroughs in cancer treatment and prevention.
