Glen Ellyn Fireworks Spectators: Wait Until Morning of July 4th to Lie Out Blankets

The annual cardboard cup regatta race, Freedom Four run and other acitivites scheduled at Lake Ellyn Park are all on tap for the weekend.

Here is a look at what you can expect in the coming days as Fourth of July festivities get underway in Glen Ellyn.

Food Truck Picnic in the Park, Saturday, July 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lake Ellyn Park: Enjoy food from a variety of food trucks that will be serving up grilled cheese, pizza, tacos and more. All proceeds go to the 4th of July committee, an all-volunteer organization, to fund the 4th of July Parade & Fireworks

Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta, Saturday, July 2, at 12 p.m. on Lake Ellyn: Come watch contestants try to sail homemade cardboard boats across Lake Ellyn. It's an afternoon of hilarious fun, whether you're onboard or onshore.

Fourth of July Activities: July 4 in Glen Ellyn

4th of July Parade: The parade steps off at 12 p.m. on July 4. The parade route starts on Ellyn Avenue, traveling west on Crescent Boulevard, north on Main Street, east on Linden Avenue to Lake Ellyn. For more information, including a map, visit the Glen Ellyn 4th of July Committee website.

Afternoon Festivities at the Lake, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road: A $3 wristband will pay for admission to all the activities, which includes: moonwalks, inflatable obstacle course, carnival games, live music and dancing.

Fireworks, start at dusk or approximately 9:30 p.m. at Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road: Residents are reminded that no blankets are allowed on the grounds of Lake Ellyn Park until the park opens on July 4 at 6 a.m. Also, please do not use rocks, bricks or stakes to hold blankets down and blankets should not be laid on landscape plants.
