New Glen Crest PE Teacher Focuses on Fitness

Kelly Nordlund, Wheaton native and now Naperville resident, is the new physical education teacher at Glen Crest Middle School for sixth and eighth graders.

She graduated from North Central College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Health and Physical Education.  During her college career, Kelly studied at the Copenhagen Department of Exercise and Sport Science in Denmark.  This experience gave her insight and cultural perspective because of her work with individuals from all over the world.

She played softball for the National Collegiate Athletic Association, as well.  Physical fitness is an extremely important aspect of physical education and Nordlund will focus on instilling energy and excitement into her students as they work on the fitness programs in their PE curriculum.

“Learning is not a spectator sport,” is a favorite quote of Nordlund’s.  She also likes to inspire the students with another quote she shared, “No matter how slow you go, you’re still lapping everyone on the couch.”

Nordlund plans to become active in volleyball, basketball, track and softball.  She is interested in the variety of service clubs Glen Crest offers the students.  Faculty and staff at Glen Crest welcome Nordlund into life at the middle school and even though it is only the third week of school, the new teacher fits in as if she was a veteran.
