Village Board Expresses Support to Begin Municipal Electric Aggregation Process

The follow is a message from the

Municipal Electric Aggregation is the method by which municipal governments can enter into electricity purchasing agreements on behalf of consumers within their jurisdiction.Β  Benefits to aggregation include lower prices and increased energy efficiency measures to residents.

During the Village Board Workshops on November 21, 2011, May 14, 2012 and June 18, 2012, the Village Board discussedΒ aggregation programs and opportunities that exist for the Village. At the most recent Workshop, the Board expressed support for developing an opt-out aggregation program. Next steps for the Village include adoption of an ordinance in July and placing a question on the November 2012 ballot requesting resident approval for the Village to arrange for the supply of electricity for residential and small commercial retail customers. Communities that have approved an opt-out Municipal Electric Aggregation Program have seen significant savings for its residents. More information on aggregation can be found by clickingΒ here.
