Annie Moses Band, BTE's "The Dingdong..." at the MAC This Week

Art Advocate and Pediatric Neuropsychologist Scott Hunter Moderates Talk for Cleve Carney Art Gallery's "On Anxiety" Exhibit

Sensational music, hilarious comedic theater and a thought-provoking artist talk are on deck this week at Glen Ellyn’s McAninch Arts Center (MAC), and the Cleve Carney Art Gallery located at 425 Fawell Blvd. on the campus of College of DuPage.

The Annie Moses Band brings their talents to the Belushi Performance Hall as part of the MAC’s 2018-2019 Season, Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m. The Annie Moses Band is composed of six siblings who began training at a young age, first in classical music at conservatories, then expanding into a variety of genres such as folk, bluegrass, pops and jazz. The Annie Moses Band has topped Billboard’s Classical Crossover chart multiple times and appeared on PBS and FOX News. Tickets are $45-$49. This is the final weekend for Buffalo Theatre Ensemble’s season opener “The Dingdong, or How the French Kiss” running now through Oct. 7 at the MAC's Playhouse Theatre. This new adaptation by Mark Shanahan from the classic French farce “Le Dindon” by Georges Feydeau features a cast of five performing 13 roles. The Daily Herald calls it ““…a sterling staging full of precision comic timing”…and ChicagoOnStage calls it “…fun…frivolous late summer entertainment. Performances are Thursday-Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $40. For tickets or more information visit AtTheMAC.org or call 630-942-4000.

The Cleve Carney Art Gallery's current exhibition, "On Anxiety" continues through Oct. 13. The exhibition of paintings, curated by Gwendolyn Zabicki, features work by Matthew Bollinger, Alexander Bradley Cohen, Jennifer Dierdorf, Ethan Gill, Justin John Greene, Mika Horibuchi, Hai-Hsin Huang, Ben Murray, Veronika Pausova, Celeste Rapone and Brandi Twilley. There will be an Artist Talk, moderated by Scott Hunter, contemporary art and music advocate and pediatric neuropsychologist in clinical practice and on the faculty at the University of Chicago, Saturday, Oct. 6, 1 p.m. Admission to this event and the gallery is free.
