Another Downtown Glen Ellyn Shopping Landmark Has Closed

Weeks after the McChesney & Miller grocery store shuttered its downtown location, Geische Shoes has closed.

In recent weeks, Glen Ellyn has lost two downtown businesses that have called the village home for decades.

Just weeks after the McChesney & Miller grocery store shuttered its downtown location, Giesche Shoes, which has been located at Main Street and Hillside Avenue since 1949, has now also closed its doors, the Daily Herald reports.

A developer has proposed use the vacated store and Main Street parking lot to construct a mixed-use development with commercial space and apartments, the newspaper reports.
