Aurora Motorcyclist Dies After Being Hit by Truck
The man was struck after making a U-turn on Butterfield Road.

A 54-year-old Aurora man died Thursday after he was struck by a truck at around 7:10 a.m., according to the Aurora Police Department.
Bradley L. Stein, 54, of the 1700 block on Pinnacle Dr. in Aurora, was traveling eastbound on Butterfield Rd. on Rt. 56 when he attempted to make a U-turn onto westbound Butterfield and was struck by a 2003 Mack Tilt Tand truck. The truck was driven by a 44-year-old Ottawa, Illinois man. Stein was driving a 2007 Duacti Sport motorcycle. Several witnesses said he appeared to have mechanical difficulty with his motorcycle just prior to being hit.

Stein was taken to Presence Mercy Medical Center by Aurora Fire Department paramedics before being flown to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove where he was pronounced dead at 10:05 a.m.
The incident occurred about 800 feet west of Hedge Row Drive in the DuPage County portion of Aurora.

The preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol was not apparently a factor and Stein was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. There were no tickets issued to the truck driver. An autopsy will not be performed.
Butterfield Road between Farnsworth and Eola was closed for several hours, but is now open.
