Back To School: District 87 2026-27 Academic Calendar

GLEN ELLYN, IL — There are less than two weeks of summer left until students return to the classroom. Back-to-school planning has already begun at Glenbard District 87, with calendars available to help parents prepare their children for a smooth transition into the 2026-2027 school year.

The first day of school is set for Aug. 12 for all District 87 students.

Here's a look at some dates to know for the upcoming school year:

Aug. 12: First day of school

Sept. 7: Labor Day; no school

Oct. 12: Indigenous Peoples' Day; no school

Oct. 23: No school

Nov. 2: No school; Teachers' Institute

Nov. 3: Election Day; e-learning

Nov. 25-Nov. 27: Thanksgiving recess

Dec. 21 - Jan. 4: Winter Break

Jan. 5: Classes start again

Jan. 18: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; no school

Feb. 15: Presidents' Day; no school

Feb. 23: Election Day; possible e-learning day

Feb. 23: No school; Teachers' Institute

March 26: No school

March 29-April 4: Spring Break

April 5: School resumes

May 7: Half-day Institute Day

May 24: Last day of school (tentative)

May 25 - 28 and June 1: Emergency Days
