Brookfield Man Sentenced for String of Home Burglaries in DuPage, Cook Counties
Paul Major has been sentenced to 16 years in prison.

A 48-year-old Brookfield man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for a string of home burglaries that occurred in Cook and DuPage counties, prosecutors said Monday.
Paul Major, 48, entered a guilty please Friday for burglarizing a a Glen Ellyn home earlier this year, according to a DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office press release.
Police said they were able to observe Major and an accomplice, Patrick McGuire, 48, of Lombard, commit the home burglary in Glen Ellyn around 9 p.m. on March 15, 2013. The burglary occurred in the 500 block of Williamsburg Road, according to the Glen Ellyn police blotter.

From there, authorities said they tied the two men to 12 home burglaries committed in Cook and DuPage Counties. Authorities from the Glen Ellyn, Des Plaines, Hinsdale and Wheaton police departments, as well as the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, assisted with the investigation.
McGuire entered a guilty plea to one count of home burglary on April 17 and has sentenced to 8 years in prison.

“Mr. Maior and Mr. McGuire were responsible for a crime spree throughout Cook and DuPage Counties that left dozens of homeowners fearful in their own homes,” said DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin.
Both men will be required to serve 50 percent of their sentence before being eligible for parole.
