Burglars Smash Window, Steal Cash From Glen Ellyn Grocery Store

The burglars reportedly used a rock to break into Perdesi Groceries.

GLEN ELLYN, IL -- Glen Ellyn police are investigating an incident in which a grocery store was burglarized. Police say burglars used a rock to break into Perdesi Grocery, located at 1184 Roosevelt Rd., and remove money from the register and safe on July 22.

Just before 3 a.m., someone smashed the glass on the store's front door to get in. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole $200 from the cash register and $600 from the safe, the victims told police.

According to police, surveillance footage shows two people wearing gloves and hooded shirts leaving the grocery story. One of the subjects appeared to be holding a large rock, police said.
