Chicagoland English Country Dance

Join us for an afternoon of Chicagoland West English Country Dance and International Folk Dance at Grace Lutheran Church, 493 Forest Avenue, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.

Schedule:

• International Folk Dance: 1:00 – 3:15 p.m.
• English Country Dance: 3:30 – 6:00 p.m.

The afternoon kicks off with International Folk Dance — a musical tour of the world featuring circle dances, line dances, and partner dances from Europe, the Middle East, and beyond. Each dance is taught and walked through before you're asked to try it. The afternoon continues with English Country Dance. ECD is social and pattern-based, with a caller guiding each dance — similar to Contra and barn dancing. Every figure is walked through before the music starts.

You can join us for the whole afternoon or drop in for just the part that calls to you. No partner or prior experience is needed!

Admission: Suggested donation of $5–$10 for all or part of the afternoon.

Getting There:

Building Entrance: Grace Lutheran is on the southeast corner of Forest and Pennsylvania in downtown Glen Ellyn. Enter through the door at the top of the ramp entrance and take the elevator to the second floor.

Parking: Street parking is plentiful along Forest Avenue and Pennsylvania. A public lot ("Schock Square") is just one block west of the church.

Metra: Grace Lutheran is just one block north of the Glen Ellyn Metra station (Union Pacific West Line), making it one of the easiest dance venues in the area to reach by train. Check the Metra schedule for Sunday afternoon departure times.
