Car Windows Broken, Vegetables Stolen: Glen Ellyn Crime Blotter

Glen Ellyn Police are investigating criminal damage to property, theft, and other crimes in their weekly blotter.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Suspects smashed in a car window and removed a woman's wallet in the 12 block of Cheltenham on August 26. This was one of two car burglaries reported in a span of day. This weekly Glen Ellyn Police Blotter also includes reports of criminal damage to a motor vehicle and theft of vegetables from a village garden.

Criminal Damage To Vehicle

8/24: At approximately 12:19 p.m., a suspect used a brick to break the passenger side window of a car in the 500 block of Pennsylvania.

8/24: According to Glen Ellyn Police, an unidentified person(s) shattered the window of a parked car in the 700 block of Roosevelt.

8/23: A resident told police that someone stole his iPass transponder and his front license plate.

8/26: A wedding ring was reported stolen from a home in the 900 block of Maryknoll. According to a release from the Glen Ellyn Police Department, the victim said their wedding ring was stolen some time between September 1, 2016 and April 30, 2017. The ring is valued at $1,058.

Vehicle Burglary

8/25: An unidentified offender entered an unlocked car in the 400 block of Dorset Place some time between August 25 and August 26. The suspect removed the man's wallet. The victim told police the wallet contained cash, an ID, and various bank cards.

8/26: A woman reported a vehicle burglary that took place in the 1200 block of Cheltenham. The suspect(s) smashed in her parked car's rear window, removing a wallet that contained cash, an Illinois ID, and credit cards.
