CN100 Game of the Week preview: Football Week 8 - Addison Trail vs. Glenbard West

The Blazers and Hilltoppers meet on the CN100 Game of the Week.

GLEN ELLYN – It’s been a while since Addison Trail was making headlines on the gridiron, but the Blazers have been one of the big surprises of the season in the Chicago area.
Not a surprise is the continued success of Glenbard West, which has been a machine in eight seasons under coach Chad Hetlet.
The top teams in each division of the West Suburban Conference get together Saturday at 1:30 p.m., a game that will be broadcast by CN100, The Comcast Network, at Noon and 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19, and at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 21. You can also find the game throughout Chicagoland with Xfinity On Demand.
Both teams are 7-0 heading into the game. Addison Trail (7-0 overall, 5-0 WSC Gold) is off to its best start in school history, topping the 2011 6-0 start, which was halted at the hands of the Hilltoppers.
The Blazers dominate on defense, allowing only 61 points while scoring 203 points. Senior quarterback Mike Rybarczyk is the trigger man and a dual threat going 69-of-114 passing for 789 yards, 11 TDs and three interceptions. He’s also rushed for 327 yards and eight TDs on 51 carries.
His top targets in the pass game are a pair of seniors. Jake Atiyeh leads the way with 38 catches, 356 yards and six TDs. Jaavion Bradley represents the big-play receiver with 20 catches for 337 yards and six scores.
Junior RB Malik Pierre-Louis carries the load in the backfield with 689 yards and four TDs on 110 carries. Senior Larry Thomas has accounted for 156 yards and three scores on 27 carries.
“Our success has been because we’re playing good team football,” Addison Trail coach Paul Parpet, Jr. said. “All phases have been sound. We have a tremendous amount of respect for the Glenbard West program and look forward to the challenge. This game will be used as a measure of how good we are.”
Glenbard West (7-0 overall, 5-0 West Suburban Silver) is off to yet another hot start. Hetlet is now 83-12 in his tenure as the Hilltoppers’ coach, including the 14-0 romp to the 2012 Class 7A state title. This year, West’s 240-55 point differential shows the Hilltoppers’ dominance through seven games.
Junior RB Sam Brodner provides the big plays, racking up 878 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground and 11 catches for 161 yards and another score. Senior Kyle Kramer has had a solid season under center, going 54-for-90 for 845 yards with seven TDs and five interceptions. Senior Aidan Gould is his top target with 26 catches for 281 yards and a TD.
Senior linebacker Ben Marcus has 26 tackles, but he is also a big play guy on offense. He has only five catches, but they have gone for 203 yards and three TDs.
Senior DB Michael Darnall leads the team with 37 tackles with an interception. Junior linebacker Nico Gagliano has 33 tackles and two sacks.
