COD to Commemorate Constitution Day Sept. 14

Guests will have the opportunity to engage participants in how the Constitution shapes our lives through a unique interactive experience

In observance of Constitution Day, College of DuPage will host “An Empowering Approach to Democracy” from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, in Room 1022 in the Robert J. Miller Homeland Security Education Center on COD’s Glen Ellyn Campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Guests will have the opportunity to become engaged participants in how the Constitution shapes our lives through a unique interactive experience. The presentation will focus on the Eighth Amendment, which states: “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.”

Presenters from the Restore Justice Foundation will share stories and demonstrate how a bill becomes a law, and participants will learn how to build a base of support for issues and work with legislative representatives.
