COD to Host Computer and Information Science Open House Feb. 8

Faculty will also lead tours of the department's labs in computer and information science, augmented reality and virtual reality and more.

High school students and current College of DuPage students are invited to learn more about education and careers in Computer and Information Science (CIS) at an open house from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in Berg Instructional Center (BIC) Room D108 on the College’s Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Participants will have the opportunity to connect with COD faculty, learn about certificates, degrees and transfer programs, attend IT-related workshops and career panel discussions, discover CIS-related clubs and activities and meet transfer representatives from four-year schools. Faculty will also lead tours of the department’s labs in computer and information science, augmented reality and virtual reality and immersive visualization.

The event highlights educational pathways in artificial intelligence, data science, game development and design, programming languages, software development and web design.

College of DuPage’s Computer and Information Science program provides six Associate in Applied Science degrees in the areas of application and technical support, game animation and design, game programming and development and software development. Students in the program will have access to high-tech classrooms, augmented reality and virtual reality (VR), and visual and simulation lab, networking hardware labs, a server and internetworking lab, software and web development labs and end-user labs.

College of DuPage is institutionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Serving more than 23,000 students each term, College of DuPage is the largest public community college in the state of Illinois. The College grants seven associate degrees and offers more than 170 career and technical certificates in over 50 areas of study.
