COD Hosts Free Canoeing Event for Veterans Aug. 22

The College of DuPage Field and Experiential Learning program, in partnership with the American Legion, Erehwon Mountain Outfitter and the Prairie State Canoeists, will host “Rolling on the River,” a Fox River canoeing event designed to honor U.S. military veterans, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22.

This event is free and open to the first 40 veterans to register.

Beginning in Oswego, participants will paddle six miles south on the Fox River to Yorkville where they will have the option to participate in a whitewater paddling opportunity on the Marge Cline Whitewater course.

This event includes shuttle transportation from Yorkville to Oswego, all canoeing and kayaking equipment, paddling instruction, on-the-water supervision by American Canoe Association certified instructors, the optional whitewater paddling opportunity in Yorkville, as well as complimentary lunch and beverages.
Participants must provide their own transportation to Bicentennial Riverfront Park in Yorkville.
