COD Music Program Presents Spring Student Ensemble Performances
All performances take place in the MAC's Belushi Performance Hall and tickets are $7, unless stated otherwise.
Five College of DuPage Music program ensembles featuring enthusiastic and creative string and wind players, percussionists, jazz musicians and singers perform May 7 through 10 at the McAninch Arts Center on COD’s Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

The Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Ben Wahlund, performs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, with an eclectic program consisting of world drumming, pop arrangements, original compositions for percussion and classics from the minimalist schools.

Directed by Mark Liu, Chamber Orchestra will perform traditional literature for small orchestra/chamber music from the 17th century through the 20th century as well as jazz contemporary classical, theater and film music on at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8.
Guitar Ensemble, under the direction of Steve Ramsdell, will perform a lively mix of blues, jazz, funk and classical arranged for an ensemble of guitars at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 9, in the MAC’s Studio Theatre. This performance is free.

The Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, directed by Patrick O’Shea, will perform various styles of music from various time periods at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9. The concert will feature the premiere of “Hymn to Time,” a piece that was joint commissioned by COD and several other institutions for composer and former College of DuPage Music Program Chair Lee Kesselman, based on a text by Ursula K. LeGuin.
Jazz/Pop Combos, under the direction of Matt Shevitz, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, featuring a variety of types of jazz, including classical, contemporary, instrumental and vocal. Students who perform in this ensemble have to opportunity to transcribe, rehearse and perform pieces of their choosing while working with an instructor to develop materials and learn rehearsal strategies.
