Two College of DuPage athletes broke COD indoor pole vault records at track and field events this February.

On the women’s track and field team, Kailee Rodeck planted a new indoor pole vault record of 3.63 meters on Feb. 13 at the North Central College Chicagoland Invitational. She surpassed her previous record-breaking vault of 3.57 meters, which she set on Jan. 24 at the Gately AU Grand Prix at Gately Park in Chicago.

“I work a lot better under pressure. So, if I have somebody else that I’m competing with, it helps me do better too,” said Rodeck.

Similarly, on the College’s men’s track and field team, William Kallas set a new indoor pole vault record, reaching a height of 5.10 meters on Feb. 14 at the Chicagoland Invitational. As with Rodeck, Kallas broke his own record of 5 meters, which he cleared on Jan. 30 at the Olivet Nazarene University Invitational.

“I hit the bar on the way down, and I was shocked that it stayed up. Then right after that, I cleared 5 meters, 10 centimeters, first attempt,” said Kallas.
