College of DuPage Board of Trustees Approves FY23 Budget

College of DuPage Board of Trustees approved the Fiscal Year 2023 budget at its regular meeting on Thursday, June 23, following a scheduled public hearing.

The $365.7 million expenditure budget for the fiscal year focuses heavily on the institutional priority of student success. The fiscal year begins July 1, 2022 and ends June 30, 2023. Highlights include:

• Increased spending for instruction, academic support and services to better serve students along their educational paths.
• Facility updates to further support student success, including technical lab upgrades, construction of motion capture and digital fabrication studios, and creation of a multicultural community center.
• Work to identify and eliminate achievement gaps to better serve current and future COD students in their educational pursuits.

“The College presents a budget that sustains core institutional programs,” said College of DuPage President Dr. Brian Caputo. “As we continue our focus on student success, the fiscal year 2023 spending plan strengthens our support services and provides for lab and learning space upgrades to benefit current and future students.”

The College’s annual budget is the culmination of six months of work, during which input is solicited from the College community and institutional needs are identified, prioritized and resourced.

Board Chair Maureen Dunne said the FY23 budget balances the challenges of a post-COVID economy and rising inflation.

“We are able to continue offering students exceptional academics and support while keeping tuition and local property taxes affordable,” said. “The College has long been a strong financial steward, and this budget continues that trend.”

College of DuPage is institutionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Serving approximately 21,000 students each term, College of DuPage is the largest public community college in the state of Illinois. The College grants seven associate degrees and offers more than 170 career and technical certificates in over 50 areas of study.
