College of DuPage Commemorates Anniversary of 9/11 Attacks
The ceremony will be presented from the College's Robert J. Miller Homeland Security Education Center at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11
Join College of DuPage and local law enforcement leaders to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
The ceremony will be presented from the College’s Robert J. Miller Homeland Security Education Center at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, via livestream on the College of DuPage Facebook page.
The commemoration includes reflections from COD President Dr. Brian Caputo, COD Homeland Security Training Institute (HSTI) Director Tom Brady, and Suburban Law Enforcement Academy Program Manager Tom Ross. The ceremony includes a moment of silence at 7:46 a.m. to mark the time of the first attack.

“The Robert J. Miller Homeland Security Education Center is a fitting location to remember the lives of those we lost in the Sept. 11 attacks,” Dr. Caputo said. “This building helps prepare future first responders. The center also houses a 1,000-pound beam section from the World Trade Center, which serves as a permanent memorial and a tangible piece of history for our students, faculty, staff and community members.”
As one of only a few educational institutions nationwide selected to receive a relic from the twin towers, Dr. Caputo said the beam symbolizes our resilience and our capacity to endure even the darkest of moments.

HSTI at College of DuPage is focused on education for law enforcement, fire science, first responders and corporate security personnel in the area of homeland security.
