Coroner IDs Man Killed in Bartlett Plane Crash
Michael Sandman 61, of Bloomingdale, was killed in the Friday crash.

The pilot that was killed Friday afternoon in a plane crash in a DuPage County forest preserve has been identified as Michael Sandman 61, of Bloomingdale.
A forensic dental procedure was completed on Sandman before the DuPage County Coroner’s Office revealed his identity late Wednesday. Sandman died of of multiple traumatic injuries due to the crash, according to autopsy results released Sunday by the coroner’s office.
The plane went down in the Hawk Hollow Forest Preserve near Struckman and South Bartlett roads at about 3:47 p.m. on Friday. Bartlett Fire Department personnel located the plane and found a male subject who was unresponsive and had no vital signs.

Sandman was pronounced dead at 5:52 p.m.
Toxicology and autopsy results are pending. The crash remains under investigation by the FAA.
