Your Guide to Glen Ellyn's 2016 Holiday Walk

On Friday, November 25, Glen Ellyn’s downtown will come alive with thousands of villagers gathered to eagerly countdown Santa’s arrival and watch the magical lighting of the big Christmas tree at the corner of Main Street and Crescent Boulevard, which will be held at 6 p.m.

Santa will then travel to the Glen Ellyn Fire Station #1 at Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue to greet the children until 8:30 p.m., according to a news release.

Downtown store windows will be artfully arranged in this year’s theme of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” for the annual window decorating contest. Spot all of the award ribbons in the winning windows as you stroll through the streets, do a little window shopping, make your holiday lists and don’t forget to check them twice, according to a news release.

Spend the entire day after Thanksgiving when family is home for the holidays in downtown Glen Ellyn. Shops and restaurants will be open all day and stay open late to offer treats for holiday shoppers. Opt for the personalized service of the downtown to provide a wide variety of unique merchandise at your local shops and restaurants.

Don’t forget to Shop Small Saturday to fill all your holiday wishes to support the economy of our local storefronts.

The Glen Art Theatre, 540 Crescent Blvd, and the Chamber will be presenting FREE children’s holiday-themed movies at 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
