Drummer Carl Allen Joins DuPage Community Jazz Ensemble May 2

Led by Director Matt Shevitz, the ensemble will perform compositions by Allen, Benny Golson, Annie Booth, Thad Jones and more.

DuPage Community Jazz Ensemble will perform its spring concert, “The Heart of the Groove,” with renowned jazz drummer Carl Allen at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at the McAninch Art Center (MAC) at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.

Allen, an accomplished musician, has worked with a large variety of artists, including Freddie Hubbard, Christian McBride, Jackie McLean and Bill Charlap.

Led by Director Matt Shevitz, the ensemble will perform compositions by Allen, Benny Golson, Annie Booth, Thad Jones and more. Additional performing include artists-in-residence Alex Bertran (saxophone), Raphael Crawford (trombone), Dave Katz (trumpet) and Crystal Rebone (bass).
