Family Fun Night Features Live Kids’ Music, Rides, Crafts

Come out to Lake Ellyn Park on Wednesday, July 19 for free entertainment and kids’ activities presented by the Glen Ellyn Park District.

Family Fun Night, a longtime Glen Ellyn summer tradition, runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Lake Ellyn Park. This year’s theme will revolve around carnivals, said Jeannie Robinson, assistant superintendent of recreation services at the park district.

Istvan and his Imaginary Band will entertain with children’s music from 6 to 7 p.m.

“We’ve had them before. They’re really good,” said Robinson.

Robinson said guitarist Istvan gets the audience involved with invitations to sing along, bang out rhythm on a tambourine or freeze in their tracks when dancing to the music.

Kids also will enjoy riding on the circular swings ride and the kiddie Ferris wheel or burning off some energy in the two bounce houses set up for the occasion.

There also will be face painting and a kids’ craft area.

Concessions for sale will include hot dogs, chips, beverages and candy.

“If people want to picnic in the park during the event, they can,” Robinson said.

The event will go forward unless inclement weather becomes an issue, which Robinson said is unlikely.

“I’ve never had to cancel for weather,” she said.

There is no registration required for Family Fun Night. So come on out and enjoy the park and activities!
