Fire Tuesday Damages Wheaton Garage

No one was injured in a fire that was reported in a detached garage Tuesday at 5 p.m.

A fire caused extensive damage to a garage in Wheaton Tuesday evening.

Firefighters responded to 1202 E. Lowden at 5 p.m. where they found a blaze in a detached garage. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes, according to a city of Wheaton press release.

An initial investigation revealed the blaze was possibly related to the disposal of embers from a recreational fire pit. The blaze caused about $10,000 damage, including minor damage to the outside of the primary home and adjoining home, according to the news release.
