Glen Ellyn Approves Civic Center Pedway Plans
The pedway plans include accommodations for outdoor dining seats, decorative lighting and seat wall planter boxes.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — The Glen Ellyn village board recently approved the design plans for a pedway that will connect the Glen Elllyn Civic Center Parking Garage to Main and Duane Streets. The project involved the demolition of the Shonkwiler building at 423 Main Street, along with a residential building.
The goal of the pedway is to make it easier for residents and Metra customers to get downtown, according to a recent update from the village. The pedway plans include accommodations for outdoor dining seats, decorative lighting and seat wall planter boxes.
The pedway and the Civic Center parking garage are both set to be completed later in 2021. The parking garage will feature 277 stalls and five floors of parking.
