Glen Ellyn Considers Parking Behind Civic Center, Valet Option

Village officials plan to discuss whether a valet option would be "viable" in the village's business district.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Officials in Glen Ellyn are inching ever closer to deciding on an option to make parking easier downtown. After a recent planning workshop, the village board said staff will dedicate its efforts to drawing up designs and weighing funding options to possibly build a parking structure behind the Glen Ellyn Civic Center.

The village is also looking into the possibility of offering valet parking downtown. In a recent press release, village board members said they will work with staff to see if valet parking would be a "viable" option.

The issue of parking in downtown Glen Ellyn has been a longtime priority for the village board, which also plans to improve the downtown area's streetscape. Parking became more limited in downtown Glen Ellyn in 2017, when the Schmid Pharmacy parking lot changed ownership and became a private lot.
