Glen Ellyn Coronavirus Update: 6 Percent Increase In Past Week

GLEN ELLYN, IL — The number of coronavirus cases in Glen Ellyn has increased by 6 percent in the past week, according to information from the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD).

As of Sept. 23, the village had reported 534 total cases of the new coronavirus. Those numbers had increased to 568 as of Sept. 30.

In nearby Wheaton, the number of coronavirus cases had increased by 4 percent. As of Sept. 23, there had been 727 cases reported in Wheaton. The total number of cases reported in Wheaton as of Sept. 30 was 759.

To date, there have been a total of three coronavirus-related deaths in the village, DCHD reports.

Wheaton has had 25 confirmed deaths since the county started tracking its coronavirus numbers, DCHD data shows.

According to the DCHD website, there were four active coronavirus cases in Glen Ellyn as of Sept. 30. In contrast, there were two active cases in Glen Ellyn on Sept. 23. According to county health officials, these numbers could be "much higher" due to unreported cases.
