Glen Ellyn Drive-Through Food Drive To Aid Food Pantry

GLEN ELLYN, IL — As the current new coronavirus shutdown puts pressure on local food pantries, the Glen Ellyn Park District is planning to host a drive-through food drive on April 3. Items donated will aid the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry in providing meals for food insecure families throughout the area.

The drive-through food drive will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center. If you're making a donation, just drive up, follow the signs and drop off your items at one of the tables.

The following items are urgently needed:

  • Toilet paper
  • Paper towels
  • Canned fruit
  • Cooking oil
  • Rice
  • Dried beans
  • Canned spaghetti or ravioli
  • Canned chicken or tuna
  • Crackers
  • Oatmeal
  • Spaghetti sauce
  • Boxed pasta
  • Canned chili

Donations will help provide meals to families in need and to students who usually rely on daily school lunches for their meals.

At press time, there were 10 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Glen Ellyn, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
