Glen Ellyn Food Pantry Nears Goal For New Headquarters
The food pantry is working to transform an old parsonage into its new headquarters.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — The Glen Ellyn Food Pantry is well on its way to raise funds to transform an old parsonage into its new headquarters. To date, the food pantry has raised $700,000 of its $900,000 goal to fund the project.
Currently, the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry operates out of a shared space at Grace Lutheran Church. Pantry officials said in a news release that the space is too small to keep up with the pantry's increasing demands.
"A larger, independent building, which is ADA compliant, is critical to our day-to-day operations to store, sort, store, package and distribute significantly more groceries," board member and capital campaign chair, Kim Dorn said in a news release. "The success of this campaign will not only transform our physical space, but our ability to provide more services to the community as we progress beyond the pandemic."

Faith Lutheran Church donated the parsonage in 2019. Whereas the exterior of the parsonage will remain unchanged, the interior will be renovated to allow for easy shopping and delivery access. The new location will also put the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry closer to the Roosevelt Road corridor.
The construction and relocation are expected to take place in 2021.
