Glen Ellyn Holiday Walk, Tree Lighting Ceremony Held Friday

Thousands of residents will pack downtown Glen Ellyn this Friday for the annual holiday walk.

The 2015 theme is ”Home for the Holidays” and the 2015 window painting theme is “Deck the Halls.” Santa will arrive at 6 p.m. at Main Street and Crescent Boulevard where he will light the tree.

He will then travel to fire station #1 at Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue to greet children until 8:30 p.m. Shops and restaurants throughout downtown Glen Ellyn will be open late and will be offering treats for holiday shoppers.

Also, the Art Theatre will be showing FREE children’s holiday-themed movies provided by our Movie Sponsors on four Saturday’s before Christmas. Movies will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays.

If you are looking for something earlier in the afternoon on the Friday, Holiday Walk at the Glen Ellyn Public Library will be offering up refreshments, musicians and more from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Visit the library’s webpage for a listing of events.

Another Holiday Walk tradition is Grace Lutheran Church’s 15th Annual Chili Supper to benefit the World Hunger Appeals Program. The Chili Supper goes from 5 to 8 p.m. and includes many more delicious options. For further information, please contact the Grace Lutheran Church office at 630-469-1555.
