Glen Ellyn KFC Burglar Swung Crow Bar At Employees, Police Say
Police say the suspect crawled through the drive-through window and that a similar burglary took place nearby.

GLEN ELLYN, IL -- Glen Ellyn police are asking for help identifying a suspect who they say broke into a KFC and Taco Bell restaurant, waited for employees to arrive, and then swung a crow bar at them while demanding they open the safe. The incident took place Friday at the store located at 370 Roosevelt Rd., according to police.
Glen Ellyn Police Department Deputy Chief Kurt Vavra said in a press release that the suspect broke in through the drive-through window and waited inside the restaurant "for several hours" until staff arrived to open up for the day.
Vavra added that another similar burglary was reported nearby on the previous day. The suspect reportedly forced their way through the drive-through window of Flip's Restaurant at 340 Roosevelt Rd.

Police are urging restaurant owners to "fortify" their drive-through windows to help prevent similar incidents. They also shared the surveillance images from the KFC/Taco Bell burglary in the hopes that the suspect can be identified.
