Residents will gather at Lake Ellyn at 11 a.m. May 29 for the Glen Ellyn Memorial Day Celebration. Patriotic music will set the scene.
GLEN ELLYN, IL — Lake Ellyn will host a Memorial Day celebration on Monday to honor American veterans. The event takes place Monday, May 29 at 11 a.m.
American flags will fly high and music will fill the air as students from Glenbard West and Glenbard South perform the National Anthem and other patriotic songs. Those who attend can craft a personalized card that overseas veterans will receive on their flights home.
Glen Ellyn Girl’s Softball will team up with the Glen Ellyn American Legion to pass out remembrance poppies and collect donations during the event. American Legion Post 3 hopes to raise $1,000 to send a World War II veteran on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C.
