Glen Ellyn Officials Address Concerns Over Higher Water Bills
The village of Glen Ellyn has been fielding calls from residents concerned over a higher water service bill in recent months.

GLEN ELLYN, IL - The village of Glen Ellyn has fielded a number of phone calls from residents over their concerns regarding a higher water service bill. The service bills, mailed to Glen Ellyn residents in early September, represent usage for June 15 to July 15 or for July 1 to August 1, and are dependant on the resident’s location in the village.
The village wants to remind residents that they are seeing higher water bills due to a number of
reasons. Based upon rain data collected by the Village Links Golf Course, the end of June and the
beginning of July had near drought conditions, according to a news release. The driest stretch was June 23 through July 5, which had 13 days without any measurable rainfall. Many customers were likely watering lawns and gardens to alleviate these drought conditions.

This is consistent with the amount of water purchased by the village from the DuPage Water Commission as a whole, according to the news release. The water purchased in July 2016 was also 8.5 million gallons higher than in July 2015.
The village of Glen Ellyn’s Public Works Department tests the accuracy of the residential village water meters. Based upon the recent results of those tests, the meters are currently operating within the American Water Works Association specifications for accuracy.
