We are so excited that we have new STEAM Kits available for checkout in the Youth Department! Each bin contains curated items like games, activities, books, and DVDs that introduce children to a Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, or Math (STEAM) concept through fun, inquiry-based learning experiences.

We hope that these kits stimulate curiosity and help kids develop important 21st century skills like critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity. Our new STEAM Kits include topics like nature, anatomy, geology, music, coding, and robotics, and offer families an opportunity to explore something new together. Search the catalog for “Glen Ellyn STEAM kit” to see what’s currently available.

Kids of all ages who are interested in science can also find information in the Science Reference Center online digital resource. You can use this resource to extend STEAM Kits and make connections between STEAM and everyday life.

Science Reference Center contains full-text articles and books to support research in applied sciences, biology, chemistry, earth and space science, and energy and extends the learning from our STEAM Kits. Search gepl.org for “science reference” and select “Science

Hoopla, another online digital resource, has just released a 2021 STEAM Look Book. This e-guide highlights STEAM reading for all ages and even links to the items so that you can check them out immediately!
