GLEN ELLYN, IL — Glen Ellyn Village President Diane McGinley will step down from her position effective Jan. 1, 2021. McGinley announced her decision at Monday night's village board meeting.

Trustee Craig Pryde will serve as President Pro-Tem from Jan. 1, 2021 through April 30, 2021, and the board will appoint an acting president at a future board meeting, according to a news release. The village president position will be formally elected in the April 6, 2021, election.

In addition to serving as village president since 2017, McGinley has been a substitute teacher for District 41, PTA President for Hadley Jr. High and as trustee on the village board from 2011 to 2015, and again in 2016.

During her time as village president, McGinley was instrumental in a number of projects, including the Taylor Avenue underpass, the Civic Center parking garage and the new train station project, which is tentatively slated for 2024.

At Monday's village board meeting, McGinley said, "I will miss this great community and all the engaged and passionate residents. Thank you for allowing me to represent you over the years.”
