Under pressure from Illinois Republicans and Gov. Pat Quinn, House Speaker Michael Madigan announced he's dropping his proposal to shift teacher pension costs to local school districts.

 

A 16-year-old Wheaton student was airlifted to Loyola Medical Center with serious injuries after he rolled off a car and was hit by another vehicle near Northside Park on Tuesday afternoon. A District 200 spokesman says he is alert and talking.

 

Christine S. Obarr of Wheaton will appear in court to set a trial date August 20.
